SYDNEY - New South Wales. Baulkham Hills, NSW, and Sunshine Coast, QLD, recently held their annual Young Single Adult regional balls. Months in the planning, the music, entertainment, food and decorations were enjoyed by hundreds--some of whom came from as far away as New Zealand. The distances did not seem to matter. Ties of faith and friendship did.

A deep bond of community among the YSA's and their common love for the Saviour surmount the sparseness of their numbers in these regions. Small groups are often separated by hundreds of miles; yet, when they gather at such events, their united strength and oneness of heart is palpable.

They bring friends along to experience not only the fun but also the brotherhood and sisterhood existing among the members of the Church.

Honoured guests at the Sydney Ball included Hon. David Clarke, MP, and his wife, Marisa, and Hon. Dominic Perrottet, MP, and his wife, Helen. Both men represent constituency domains near the event venue.

The visitors were greeted on a red-carpet concourse upon arrival and were hosted in a VIP setting, meeting the Ball MCs—Orson Baker and his television personality brother, Rudi Baker (both members of the Baulkham Hills Stake). After being introduced to various Sydney Stake Presidents and their wives, the parliamentarians addressed the Ball attendees in an Opening Ceremony.

Ticket sales in Sydney kept the number to just over 900. The dressed up crowd broke into exercise mode as "Move Your Body" played from time to time during the evening. Nadia Webster called it "the best ball I've ever been to." Jordan Scott thought the dress standards were great and the band outstanding.

Ten couples in the Sydney area rehearsed a floorshow for weeks prior. Included was a "flash mob"—a group of dancers who previously appeared to be part of the audience until their seemingly spontaneous performance. For Alex Pinono, "the 'flash mob' was the highlight."

At the ball in Sunshine Coast, the resident stake rock band, Jam Can, played songs by the Beatles, Beach Boys, and Rolling Stones for the large crowd that gathered in the Lake Kawana Reception Centre. "What a night it was!" said Warwick Vincent. "This is definitely a social event not to miss!"
